solid as heaven, mostly cloud

something that is is raiment, a word

apparel to look upon, to speak

of the glory of clothing:

jackets inflated with feathers

brocades, embroidery,

simple square shirts

work is but raiment

a method of appearance

appropriate to the role

as night darkens the city

people change their clothes

& reemerge, like madmen

to your raiment take heed

it proclaims the person

the apparel, the speech, the flash

these are to any man the self

the mind, the day, clouded blue
